Moda Piel — Tradition, innovation, and style with a Mexican stamp
It all began in 1990, when Mauricio Orozco, with just four sewing machines, five employees, and a clear vision, founded Confecciones Moda Piel (CMP) in León, Guanajuato. His goal was simple but ambitious: to create leather products of exceptional quality for prestigious brands.
A year later, CMP received its first major order from the ROBERT'S chain. That moment marked the beginning of a story of accelerated growth. By 1995, CMP was already collaborating with El Palacio de Hierro, and within a few years, it had positioned itself as a key supplier to iconic stores such as Liverpool™, JCPenney™, Sears™, Michel Domit™, Scappino™, Florsheim™, Coppel™, and C&A™.
From Mexico to the world
In 2000, CMP took its first step toward international expansion with the opening of an office in Tianjin, China, and in 2001, it strengthened its global vision with a purchasing and trend research office in Solofra, Italy.
This momentum earned it recognition by the European Economic Community in 2002 as a leading company in the Mexican leather goods industry.
Inspiring alliances
In 2003, CMP became the first Mexican supplier of leather jackets for Harley-Davidson®, and that same year it signed its first licensing agreements with international brands such as Guy Laroche and Halston.
Since then, Moda Piel's history has been shaped by partnerships with the most iconic brands in the fashion world. In 2006, it became the first Mexican manufacturer with direct licenses from Levi's® and Dockers®. Later, brands like Disney®, Perry Ellis®, Dickies®, Ford Mustang®, The Frye Company®, Kenneth Cole®, Nine West®, Lee®, Wrangler®, and Pierre Cardin® followed.
In addition, over the years, we have been responsible for the design and production of private labels for some of Mexico's most iconic department stores, contributing to their identity and strengthening their market presence.
Growing with Purpose
The achievements were not long in coming. In 2004, CMP received the State Export Award, and its founder was recognized by President Vicente Fox as International Entrepreneur of the Year.
Since then, the company has diversified its product lines, ranging from jackets and sweaters to underwear, socks, accessories, and footwear. It also opened sales offices in Toronto and New York, strengthening its presence in North America.
Today, Moda Piel continues its journey with the same passion that gave it its birth: creating high-impact fashion with the highest quality standards. With each garment, we build a story that speaks of excellence, style, and a vision for the future.
